Now That’s My Type of Humor!

|

I like my humor just as I like my martinis – the dryer the better. Here’s a list:

  • The Onion - cynical, dark, hilarious. Their news-parodying headlines all have something interesting to say about current events, public policy, businesses, and human folly. Their videos are even better. Check out this recent one about Al-Qaeda calling off an attack because it could’ve killed Twilight author Stephanie Meyer.

  • Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me” – Put a panel of writers, comedians, and smart-asses on a game show about current events and you get this show. Try to answer the questions during Lightening Fill-in-the-Blanks or tell truth from fiction in Bluff the Listener. You’ll hear stories of snacks made from human toenails and sofas made from whale foreskins that when rubbed turn into chairs. Fun for the whole family.

  • Imgur.com – A great free image host with a hilarious collection of the most popular ones. E.g. this and that.
  • Cracked.com – From history to pop culture, film commentary to geography, you can always learn something from Cracked.com. Here’s “7 Real World Heists That Put ‘Ocean’s 11′ to Shame” and “15 Unintentionally Perverted Toys for Children.” Crisp, colorful rhetorical flourishes give Cracked it’s particular humor.
  • Maddox/Best Page in the Universe – This personal old-school website became popular during middle school to the alarm of prudent parents who were right to be put off by expletives and vitriol. But it’s incisive vitriol, no-holds-barred. Here’s a convincing argument why the movie Signs sucked.
