Zion National Park 2009

Spring break of junior year in college. People laughed when I told them I was going to Las Vegas…to hike.

Peter’s brother Matt lived in Henderson, an outlying suburb of Vegas. We thought it a good idea to plan our trip there. Free housing near Sin City.

We didn’t do any stereotypical Vegas excursions like strip clubs or poker tables. We just walked around the Strip ogling at casinos like the Bellagio. I liked the Bellagio fountain, especially when its underwater jets gushed to the tune of Aaron Copeland’s Fanfare for the Common Man.

We collected escort girl/prostitute cards from men who slapped their decks to attract attention on the main street. At Seth’s suggestion, some of us began heartily accepting these offers. It was amazing how fast we could collect them. You just go down the line. Thank you, thank you. and accept the cards as they are given to you in multiples.
